LEGISLATIVE UPDATE: Moriarty, Hutchison, Miller Bills Signed into Law, Delivering Results for South Jersey Fire Chiefs

After hearing directly from our fire chiefs about the challenges and needs of local fire departments, Senator Moriarty, Assemblyman Hutchison, and Assemblyman Miller introduced legislation to provide support. The following two bills were signed into law:

S4344/A5538 - prohibits municipal utilities authorities from charging fire districts and fire departments for water service used in fire protection systems under certain circumstances.

S4346/A5537 - allows fire departments to continue using certain Class B firefighting foam for one year after its prohibition takes effect.
