Rideshare services like Uber and Lyft are widely used across New Jersey for everyday travel.
But serious concerns have been raised about passenger safety. Reports cited by the New York Times indicate Uber received reports of sexual misconduct or assault in the U.S. nearly every eight minutes between 2017 and 2022.
Senate Bill 3789 strengthens protections by:
Allowing audio and video recording during rides at the passenger's or driver's request
Enforcing zero tolerance for crimes against passengers
Requiring investigations within 7 days of a complaint
Barring drivers convicted of serious violent crimes
This bill is about improving accountability and safety while keeping rideshare services available and reliable. Questions? Call us at 856-232-6700!!
