Senator Paul Moriarty and Assemblyman Cody Miller joined Gloucester Township Mayor, Council, and NJ DOT Commissioner Francis O'Connor to announce the Black Horse Pike Resurfacing Project.

The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) will soon begin the project, which will include milling and paving the corridor from Route 42 in Washington Township to County Route 544 in Runnemede. The project also features the installation of decorative lighting, upgraded traffic signals, and modernized guiderail systems.

"This investment will transform our district. This is a key highway running through Gloucester Township, Washington Township, and Monroe Township. These improvements will make our intersections safer and beautiful," says Senator Paul Moriarty.

This project includes Downtown Blackwood! This phase will transform the area into a vibrant arts and cultural district.

“Downtown Blackwood’s transformation reflects our ongoing commitment to economic revitalization and community development,” said Mayor David R. Mayer. “Through strategic partnerships and investment in public infrastructure, we are building a more vibrant and sustainable future for Gloucester Township.”

Construction is anticipated to begin in early 2026 and will coincide with Gloucester Township’s Streetscaping Project in the downtown area. These coordinated improvements will not only enhance public safety and accessibility but also play a key role in driving economic development.

"It is important that we are helping improve the lives of our residents, and through this project, one that runs through the heart of the 4th legislative district, we will be helping residents on their commutes. The revitalization is in its final phase to make this section of Gloucester Township safer for pedestrians," says Assemblyman Cody Miller.
